EU opens accession negotiations with Moldova | Vadim Cheptanaru

Ukraine and Moldova have begun EU accession talks. To officially join the bloc, both countries will need to meet a range of requirements, including reducing corruption levels. Moldova’s greatest obstacle is Transnistria, a region bordering Ukraine that broke away from Moldova in 1991 and has since been a self-proclaime state will no international recognition. Vadim Cheptanaru, a journalist with TVR Moldova, joined us to talk about Chișinău’s prospects of breaking with Russia and entering the European fold.
