1 tbsp Butter
1 tbsp Ghee
1 Bay Leaf
1-inch Cinnamon Stick
1/4 tsp Asafoetida
1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 tsp Coriander Seeds Powder
1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
2 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
4 Tomatoes (puréed)
Salt ( as per taste)
1 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Garam Masala
1/2 cup Hot Water
2 tbsp Fresh Cream
1/2 Dried Fenugreek Leaves

About Green Peas Masala
Green Peas Masala is a vegetarian dish consisting of peas, in a tomato & Cashew based sauce, spiced with garam masala. It is often served with rice and an Indian type of bread (naan, paratha, poori, or roti depending on region). Various other ingredients are often added, such as potato (aloo), corn, yogurt or cream.

In India, fresh peas are used in various dishes such as aloo matar (curried potatoes with peas) or mattar paneer (paneer cheese with peas), though they can be substituted with frozen peas as well. Peas are also eaten raw, as they are sweet when fresh off the bush. Green Peas known as Hasiru Batani in Kannada are used to make curry and Gasi. Split peas are also used to make dal, particularly in Guyana, and Trinidad, where there is a significant population of Indians. |
