Skeps

Filmed on my iphone around 2010 in Yorkshire, my beloved great uncle James Ramsden taught me how to make a Skep - an old form of bee hive. We had planned to make this Youtube video about skeps, in fact he suggested it, but he wanted us to film cutting the rushes on the moors and becasue we never got there and it stalled the making of this little video. Now, over 10 years later, and a few months after his death, I have finally edited together this introduction to skeps, or 'how to start bee keeping for nothing'. James was a great maker of things with endless curiosity for craft and nature and a great generosity in sharing his discoveries. Please do share, he would be delighted.
