[Anchor Lead]

An entire community has come together to stage a musical starring student actors. Next, we will bring you some scenes from the musical, which is just as touching and entertaining as any production by professional actors.

The powerful voice of Jean Valjean resonates on the stage. The female lead sings a song about her helpless life. All these roles are played by students.

[Soundbite] Roh Seong-ki(Audience Member) : "They are neither specialists nor professional actors. But the performance is moving. It is worth the money."

Having survived the competition odds of five-to-one, the selected student actors had to undergo three-month-long trainingin English singing, dancing and acting. Local residents provided a practice venue and produced stage costumes. Thanks to the assistance from the residents, the performance has been staged for four consecutive years, offering students a chance to participate in a musical production.

[Soundbite] Roh Yong-won(Jean Valjean) : "I came to understand acting while communicating with friends who want to become actors."

[Soundbite] Doo A-in(Assistant Director) : "I have worked with people whom I met through this performance. I was given an opportunity to work as a show producer."

Tickets for all shows sell out every year. It provides both the local residents and student actors with priceless cultural experiences and exposure.
