In Engineering we talk about forces, torque, energy, friction, electricity, power, etc. We need units to talk about the quantity of these ideas and to be able to compare them. This is where the SI units come in. We start with the 7 base SI units and we can derive all the other units from them. It is so important we have a common understanding and common language based around these units to move forward in this course.
