Mega Man & Bass (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Capcom's 1998 platformer for the Super Nintendo, Rockman & Forte.

This video was recorded off of a fan-translated, patched version of the Japanese original. It didn't receive an official English release until 2003 when its Game Boy Advance port, under the localized title Mega Man & Bass, went on sale in the US.

Mega Man & Bass is an interesting spin-off for the long running Mega Man series. Though it's not technically part of the mainline series, the plot is set shortly after the events of Mega Man 8, much like what MM Xtreme was to MMX.

It's a quasi-port down of the eighth game that came out a year prior on the Sony Playstation and the Sega Saturn. It looks great for an SNES game, with huge character sprites and a cheery anime aesthetic similar to that found in Mega Man 7, though the animation is better on this one.

There isn't a whole lot new to it if you're already familiar with Mega Man 8, but this is an entertaining retread. It's extraordinarily hard though - there are a lot of deaths required by its trial-and-error level design that might be off-putting to longtime fans of the series, and there are no E-tanks to be had. If you love Mega Man and absurdly difficult platforming, you'll like it just fine, but if you are easily frustrated, stay well away.
