Six months ago, Audi unveiled the A7 Sportback 55 TFSI e quattro alongside three other plug-in hybrid models at the Geneva Motor Show.

Now, the A7 Sportback PHEV has gone on sale in Europe, so Audi has finally released its full specs. Named the A7 Sportback 55 TFSI e quattro (yep, that’s a mouthful), the large four-door coupe combines a 252 PS (248 hp) 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with a 105 kW (143 PS / 141 hp) electric motor and a 14.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The electric motor and separating clutch are integrated into the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, which transfers the drive torque to a quattro ultra drivetrain. With a combined output of 367 PS (362 hp) and maximum torque of 500 Nm (369 lb-ft), the A7 Sportback 55 TFSI e quattro accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Since this is a plug-in hybrid, economy ratings are important. Audi claims it offers a combined fuel consumption (with the use of the electric motor) as low as 1.9 l/100 km (123.8 mpg US), corresponding CO2 emissions of 44 g/km, and a combined electrical consumption as low as 17.5 kWh. As for the all-electric driving range, it exceeds 40 km (25 miles) as per the WLTP cycle. The top speed in EV mode is 135 km/h (84 mph), which means that theoretically one can drive it with zero emissions on the highway.

The 55 TFSI e quattro is rather easy to distinguish from other A7 models as it’s equipped as standard with the S line exterior package combined with the black styling package and privacy glass. It offers a comprehensive standard equipment list that includes HD Matrix LED headlights,19-inch wheels, red brake calipers, sport seats, four-zone automatic air conditioning, convenience key, Audi’s virtual cockpit and PHEV-specific displays.

The new model can already be ordered across European markets with prices starting from €77,850 (approximately $86,100), and customer deliveries will begin in the third quarter of 2019.
