The hoop dance originated with the Taos/Pueblo Indians of southwestern United States and tells the story of a small eaglet that grows into a full grown eagle. The dance also depicts the plants and animals that the eagle sees. The hoop is often called the circle of life and tells of the continuous journey of this life and beyond.
