Yeah, the pedestrian shouldn't have been a sheep and just follow the other people. BUT the view of the crossing is blocked for the cyclist and I felt he went through the junction way too fast meaning he couldn't react in time. I told him such when we stopped at some lights around the corner.

Because the view of the crossing is blocked, pedestrians take a risk and cross, they are obviously so late for work that they must cross without actually looking. As such, you have to take care. This junction has been like this for a while now, so shouldn't be surprised to a seasoned rider.
