建於1979年3月，開業40餘年的廣州番禺賓館，也是改革開放40餘年的「親歷者」。從她的發展歷程，從與她有關的圖像，看上世紀80年代的中國，看上世紀80年代的廣東番禺。
番禺賓館40年的發展，伴隨著改革開放的全進程，足以見證番禺乃至珠三角改革開放前沿陣地的建設和發展，見證國家和民族發展與強盛；同時，也承載了幾代廣東番禺人的記憶與情懷，蘊含著愛國鄉賢與社會各界的關懷與支持。
1970年代末，改革開放春風吹遍神州大地。廣大旅外鄉賢桑梓情深，紛紛回來支持家鄉經濟建設。在廣東番禺縣委縣政府的高度重視與支持下，番禺鄉賢何賢、霍英東、張耀宗和梁昌哲嗣等港澳知名人士為家鄉出謀劃策，仗義捐資興建番禺賓館。

The 40-year development of Panyu Hotel, accompanied by the entire process of reform and opening up, is enough to witness the construction and development of Panyu and even the frontier of reform and opening up in the Pearl River Delta, and the development and prosperity of the country and the nation; at the same time, it also carries the memories and feelings of several generations of Panyu people in Guangdong, and contains the care and support of patriotic fellow villagers and all walks of life.
In the late 1970s, the spring breeze of reform and opening up blew across China. The vast number of fellow villagers abroad have deep feelings for their hometowns and have returned to support the economic construction of their hometowns. With the great attention and support of the Panyu County Party Committee and County Government of Guangdong, Panyu fellow villagers Ho Yin, Ho Ying-tung, Cheung Yiu-chung and Liang Chang-ch's sons and other well-known people in Hong Kong and Macao have made suggestions for their hometown and donated money to build Panyu Hotel.
