The POST Regular Basic Course (RBC) is 24 weeks long and specific to those who desire a traditional law enforcement career that includes field work at the municipal and county level, and wish to work in a general law enforcement environment. The POST minimum standard for the RBC curriculum is 664 hours, covered in 42 learning domains. The RCJTC offers the RBC in 1010 hours over 24 weeks, presented in the POST Intensive Format and extensively lengthened over basic state requirements. In addition to POST’s emphasis on Leadership, Ethics and Community Policing, we have also infused the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics and the Six Pillars of Character into every academy Learning Domain, regardless of whether it is a POST or GWC-Specific learning domain. We remain at the forefront of comprehensive community policing training, not only with additional hours, but also with enhanced curriculum. One of these enhancements include a ride-along program designed to provide academy recruits with exposure to the practical application of principled policing in the community and problem-solving strategies, as demonstrated by Field Training Officers (FTO) within each participating law enforcement agency.
