NANAIMO - Private Chad Shore walks by Harewood Mall almost everyday, often in his military uniform but tuesday night something different happend. Private Shore crossed the Bruce and 5th intersection and once he arrived to the bus stop, a man in his twenties sparked up a conversation about the army. While waiting for the bus, the man asked questions about the military and then all the sudden he lashed at Private Shore with a knife. The man sliced open Chad's neck and fled. The Private chased him for awhile but the blood was gushing out of the wound. He gave up the chase and went to find help. The staff at the Subway Restaurant called 911.

Chad was given 6 stitches on his neck and released. The RCMP's investigation is underway and they believe the military uniform and the conversation about the armed forces provoked the assault. Chad says there were witness and is pleading with they to step forward if they saw anything.
