Champ Trick Williams talks NXT, Whoop Meaning, Booker T, Keenan HS, Football, USC, SEC, Fort Pierce

Video interview with WWE NXT Champ Trick Williams, whose catch phrase/entrance music "Whoop That Trick" is very popular among the WWE NXT faithful, especially NXT commentator Booker T.
Trick Williams is the next incarnation of NXT talent on the cusp of making the WWE main roster (Raw 8 p.m. Mondays on USA Network or SmackDown 8 p.m. Fridays on Fox). He is the new NXT champion, connecting with the crowd. "Whoop That Trick" is his entrance music, and the fans love it, hands in the air, singing along, as he enters the ring area for his match. Making that connection with fans is so important in the elevation process of a pro wrestler.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Williams, 29, is from Columbia, South Carolina. He transitioned from football to professional wrestling. He played football for Hampton University in Virginia and the University of South Carolina in the highly-touted SEC. [Former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia is a USC alum, too.] Williams earned a degree in Physical Education and spent time as an assistant coach and student-teacher intern at Airport High School in West Columbia, South Carolina. Football playing ended after a tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles.
As for his high school days, he is an alum of Keenan High School also in Columbia. Go Raiders. He was named all-state as a senior at receiver, repeating as Keenan’s Offensive MVP after totaling 1,157 yards and nine touchdowns. He recorded 600 yards and five touchdowns as a junior while earning Offensive MVP honors. He was an All-Region and All-Area selection. He also played basketball and was featured in Midlands Prep.
Speaking of Raiders, WWE WrestleMania 41 in 2025 will be in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL Las Vegas Raiders.
Williams is a former NXT North American Champion and winner of the 2023 Men's Iron Survivor Challenge. He teamed with Carmelo Hayes in NXT and then had a rivalry with him, which attracted much attention.

Williams vs. Hayes headlined "NXT Stand & Deliver" in a steel cage on Saturday, April 6, 2024 during WrestleMania Weekend at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A few weeks later at "Spring Breakin'" on NXT Tuesday on USA Network, Williams defeated Ilja Dragunov in the main event to capture the NXT Championship.

Dragunov and Hayes are now on the WWE main roster.
