In this video, I'll show you how to find the perimeter and area of trapezoids. To clarify, a trapezoid is a four-sided and four-cornered (quadrilateral) shape that has at least one adjacent pair of sides that are parallel to each other. In case you don't know, the word parallel means that the sides go in the same direction. It's simple as that!

To find the perimeter of a trapezoid, all you need to do is add all the sides together. Now, to find the area, you need to use the formula A = (1/2)(b1 + b2)h, where 'b1' is the first base, and 'b2' is the second base, and 'h' is the height. In this video, I also explain where this area formula comes from and why is the area formula this way. To give you a hint, if you divide the trapezoid diagonally, you will have two triangles. So the area of the trapezoid is the sum of the two areas of the triangle together. I hope that makes sense.

By the end of the video, I hope that you learned how to easily find the perimeter and area of trapezoids. This is one of my favourite exercises in math because it is so easy. In the next video, instead of the perimeter and area of trapezoids, I'm going to show you how to find the perimeter and area of kites, and the method is pretty similar.
