Synopsis
More than twenty years after Tokugawa Ieyasu established Edo, during a critical period when the Tokugawa shogunate's permanent rule was still uncertain, the third shogun, Iemitsu, successfully completed the shogunate succession ceremony and embarked on his new role. At that time, a single paper was posted in the great hall of Edo Castle, stating: "If the secrets of the Martial Arts Scroll become public, the Aoi crest will wither overnight…" Immediately, rumors spread that the Yagyū Martial Arts Scroll, known as the Bugeichō, concealed a conspiracy that threatened the very survival of the shogunate. Thus began the battle between a mysterious group targeting the scroll and the Yagyū family.

About
The first installment of the TV period drama series, starring Hiroki Matsukata as Yagyū Jūbei. This casting excites period drama fans, as Matsukata takes on the role once played by his father, Jūshirō Konoe. The series also features a star-studded lineup, including special appearances by Tomisaburō Wakayama as Tokugawa Ieyasu and Beat Takeshi as the nobleman Mitsufusa Mado-no-Koji. Yagyū Munenori is portrayed with great dignity by the well-known actor Nishikawa Kan.
