We Survived! Hurricane Nicole In Highlands County, Florida

Missy and Stuart rode out Hurricane Nicole or Tropical Storm Nicole in Avon Park, FL. Avon Park is located in Highlands County, Florida.

Stuart and Missy booked an Airbnb in Avon Park along Lake Lotela. They had to take a trip to Avon Park when Archie had some urgent dental needs, and Dr. Saunders (the most incredible vet in Sebring) was able to get Archie in immediately to have his dental work taken care of.

Hurricane Nicole and Tropical Storm Nicole did not impact Highlands County as much as initially anticipated after the hurricane made landfall at 3 AM near Vero Beach, Florida.

The coast was hit pretty hard, especially the Daytona Beach area, after two hurricanes hit the area in weeks, causing massive amounts of beach erosion. Beachfront properties and homes along Florida's Atlantic coast were destroyed by the one-two punch delivered by Hurricane Ian and Tropical Storm Nicole in a matter of weeks.

Besides dealing with Hurricane Nicole, Stuart and Missy also toured their old stomping grounds in Sebring, the Stone Ridge neighborhood. It was great to see all the new construction underway in the area after years of neglect from the previous ownership group.

They also enjoyed breakfast at Dee's and lunch at Mae Lee's. Two great places to eat in Sebring.
