Learn how I Bench Test the Coil on Plug (CoP) Coil Motorcraft DG511 {#3L3Z12029BA} or Motorcraft DG508 {#3W7Z12029AA, DG540}. This coil is used on a number of 4.6L & 5.4L Ford V8 Engines. If you are getting a Cylinder #X Misfire Detected Fault Code P0301, thru P0308. You may have a bad Coil. Other common causes for this code include defective spark plug, bad coil, bad or cracked coil boot, bad fuel injector, low fuel pressure, bad fuel, vacuum leak, bad camshaft or crankshaft sensor, camshaft timing off. For OEM Coil resistance for the Primary Circuit should be 0.55 ohms and the secondary circuit resistance should be 5,500 ohms. For MSD Coil the Primary Circuit should be 0.73 ohms and the secondary circuit resistance should be 5,370 ohms.
