ID Tips: Franklin's Gull vs. Laughing Gull

The Franklin's Gull and the Laughing Gull are two species that look very similar to one another. With the same basic coloration and somewhat overlapping ranges, these two birds can be hard to tell apart, but with a few ID tips, it can become much easier to arrive at a correct identification.
