Silvuddy's Notes:

Kanto: The one and only original, and also the most remixed! The developers of Gold and Silver went a step ahead by arranging the original theme; they could have easily said "this Johto one is the new one for the whole game," but instead they made this really cool callback! The remake versions of both add a lot of flavor with the new instruments, particularly drums. Gen 3 actually has 4 versions of the theme all to itself: the main version is pitched up from Gen 1, the birds' pitches it up again, Mewtwo's changes some instruments, and Mew's pitches up and reorchestrates it. X and Y gave those Legendaries an awesome remix of this theme, but the best one is still probably the fully orchestral raid battle version from LGP/E (you can't normally battle Wild Pokémon in that game, so wild encounters use a different theme!).

Johto: I bet fans of the series back when Gold and Silver released weren't expecting a new main battle theme, much less a day and a night version! The remake remix adds some new lines for better flow, so it's not perfectly 1:1.

Hoenn: The perfect way to exemplify Gen 3's upgraded sound capabilities. The remake rendition fully realizes the instruments with more lifelike samples!

Sinnoh/Hisui: The BDSP version compromises the ORAS approach of greater realism with more synth sounds emulating the somewhat retro style of the remake. Legends: Arceus totally reimagines the theme with Japanese-style instruments, exaggerated in the Alpha Pokémon version. The Noble Pokémon battle also arranges this theme, first using one of the later portions of DPPt version while throwing balms, before transitioning to a hyped up full remix of the original them (and even throwing in some references to Dialga, Palkia, and Arceus).

Unova: The sequel's remix actually pitches down the original version, but Black 2 and White 2 still have the same strong/rare encounter version at its original pitch, so you get the best of both worlds!

Kalos: Poor Dedenne over there with only one theme, and the shortest one of them all at that! Maybe we'll get a cool remix when the inevitable X/Y remakes come out!

Alola: Much like Black and White's sequels, the Ultra versions of the Alola games feature a different arrangement of the wild encounter theme. The Totem Pokémon boss theme also arranges the Wild Pokémon theme in a minor mode, with more intense impacts and harsh chords.

Galar: Listen closely and you can hear that the Max Raid Battle music is a slower, synth-orchestra arrangement of the regular wild encounter theme. The version used when battling Legendaries in Dynamax Adventures is clearly a remix of that, so it's also included here!

Paldea: For the first time there are brand new, totally different themes depending on which area you're battling in! The Paradox Ambush version only plays during the scene where the player is attempting to enter Zero Lab, but since it's an arrangement of the Area Zero wild encounter theme it's included here!

P.S. Accidentally looped the HGSS Kanto theme 3 times! Oops!)
