Mohamed Hersi from Selby Trust talks about what needs to be done in the community to recognise the problems caused by obesity.

My name is Mohamed Hersi. I work for Selby Community Centre and I am coming here to work with other people, who, working with the Alliance against obesity and want to improve with the borough.

Because I work with Selby Community Centre and I’m Sports Officer, I have a lot of experience and there are a lot of communities where they don’t see obesity as a problem and where their culture don’t see obesity as a problem. We need to change these people and educate them and those people are hard to reach people, and those people aren’t here but we have to make sure to reach those people and educate them. And it links, to link with the obesity and the health and to show them if they don’t change that it will cost their health in the future and also it’s very important that the Alliance to work with local communities.
