I've always thought this one was a ripper. I recorded this cover last week a few days before Ace passed. It's a great example of KISS' clever use of two guitars, orchestrating them for maximum impact.

10/10 for mode mixture too - blending the major with the minor creates that larger than life feel, perfect for stadium rock.

What's your favourite KISS harmony solo? (I mean, apart from Detroit Rock City?) Let me know and I'll cover it for ya.

There's plenty to choose from. I think it'd be a heap of fun to one day do a compilation on YouTube of all the KISS harmony solos.

I know Ace didn't play on the original Pyscho Circus track (allegedly it was actually Tommy Thayer), but it's always a peak moment whenever I'm looking through concerts like Live at Dodger Stadium. Even if finding out was a bit of a 'Santa's not real?!' moment.

Do you think it was smart by Gene & Paul to hire other musicians to contribute to their albums? Or should they have kept it pure and only relied on the 4 core members?

I'm personally a bit torn, because while we all agree purity is ideal, the value of a great session player can't be underestimated.

Steve Lukather even claimed that Toto bandmate Mike Porcaro performed bass on a few KISS recordings, which suggests that even Gene Simmons isn't above having someone better redo his parts as well. Perhaps just the equivalent of a modern day artist relying on autotune & quantizing.
