This is an IB DP guide to help DIGISOC students get top marks on Exam Paper 2

Exam paper two provides sources and your task is to demonstrate your ability to understand the sources and identify key ideas, demonstrate independent, creative and critical thinking and RESPOND directly to the COMMAND TERM and QUESTION.

DP DS Exam Paper Two wants the candidates to:
~ demonstrate independent, creative and critical thinking

~ demonstrate accurate and relevant knowledge - but be aware that for some questions, there is no one “correct” response, but several possible

~ support their critical and creative thinking (more about incorporating sources... when asked to do so - make it clear and explicit). SUPPORT your ideas with (1) sources provided, (2) real-life examples & (3) your own research.

~ respond to the command term... examine look for these signals....

~ ~ Explain signal words = Because, as a result of, due to, therefore, consequently, for example

~~ Analyse signal words = Furthermore, additionally, however, but, conversely, likewise, in addition, on the other hand, whereas

~~ Evaluate signal words = My opinion, overall, although, despite, on balance, weighing up

~~ Compare = pick a theme (e.g. adaptability, environmental impacts, costs, user interface, etc.) and compare sources A & B; then another theme and compare. Do not present two separate descriptions.

~ given time constraints, answers for PART C are not intended to reflect fully polished extended responses that address the full range of possible examples, issues and topics possible

~ Q 4 Look for a major theme in the question and clearly link sources, points, and examples to this major theme (e.g. The theme is CHANGE: transformation/evolution and the question was: "Uber, the world’s largest taxi company, owns no vehicles. Facebook, the world’s most popular social media platform, creates no content. Alibaba, the most valuable retailer, has no inventory.
