On June 23, 2016 one of the most beautiful places on Earth was hit with the deadliest flash flooding our country has seen in years. 23 people lost their lives and over 1,200 homes were devastated. The waters have gone down, but now thousands of people are left picking up the pieces. It saddens me to see that it has not recieved the attention it has deserved in the media.
I've been blessed to spend a lot of time in West Virginia this past year. I consider it my second home and I find a lot of inspiration there. The people of West Virginia are as beautiful as the mountains that they call home. I've not heard many complain about losing everything, but I've seen acts of kindness that restore my faith in humanity. They have a spirit that no flood can ever drown.
