Here’s how to use a regular wireless router as an access point to extend your WiFi range at home.
This works with almost any router and can fix weak signal in bedrooms, basements, or garages.

✔ What you need:
• Your main router
• A second router (any brand)
• Ethernet cable

✔ Steps:
Choose the Right Router
1.Pick a router that supports Access Point mode (like the Netgear Nighthawk AX8).
Check coverage specs (e.g., 2,500 sq ft) and features you need.
2.Place the Router Strategically
if possible run an ethernet cable to the center of the dead zone area.
3.Connect to Power and Network
Plug the new router into a power outlet.
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the new router to your main router (LAN-to-LAN port).
4.Access Router Settings
Connect a laptop or phone to the new router (via Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
Open a browser and enter the router’s IP address (usually printed on the device).
Enable Access Point Mode
In the router’s settings, look for Operation Mode or Router Mode.
Switch from Router to Access Point.
This disables DHCP and routing functions, so it works as an extender.
Configure Wi-Fi Settings
5.Set the same SSID and password as your main router (for seamless roaming).

Save and Reboot
6.Apply changes and restart the router.
Confirm it’s connected to your main router and broadcasting Wi-Fi.
Test Coverage
Walk around your home with a phone or laptop.
Check signal strength in previously weak areas.
