How to Remove / Repair DJI Phantom 3 Standard Gimbal & Camera with Crash!

This diy tutorial shows you how to remove and replace the gimbal and camera on your P3 Standard. I won't be replacing my entire gimbal with a "brand new" one as mine is miraculously still working (see crash above), but replacing this dampening board follows the procedure of installing an entirely new gimbal unit.

For this install you will only need a knife, a small Phillips and a small Allen wrench
It's always best to remove the battery for safety!
-Flip the phantom upside down, remove the two plastic pins that run between the rubber dampeners.
These can be a little tricky, force the small sliding piece over the wider portion of the pins shaft, this will expand the teeth just a small amount and allow them to come off without breaking.
-Now that the gimbal has been removed, you will notice 3 connections between the gimbal and multi rotor. The ribbon cable can be removed by hand but the other two are a little different. Note the orientation as we will be reinstalling these in the same order.
-Remove the two plastic covers, this is done by removing
two small Phillips head screws on the backside.
-After you remove the 2 screws, the two covers will pop off exposing the connections which can then be removed by GENTLY using the blade of your knife.
-Now that we have completely separated the gimbal and multirotor, remove the 4 Allen head screws holding the vibration dampening board to the Phantom, in my case I am replacing it with a new one.
-Re-install the connections in the same orientation in which they were removed earlier.
-Flip the gimbal over and re-install the two covers with the Phillips screws.
-Push the clear plastic pins back through the white rubber dampeners re-securing the gimbal to the Phantom
and your'e all done!
