There are plenty of lawyers throughout the state of Florida who handle personal injury claims. There are plenty of lawyers who handle those claims and do a very good job, who are not board certified. But board certification is a process through which a lawyer goes the extra mile to achieve the professional status to demonstrate that they have become certified in a particular field. Board certification allows the lawyer to call themselves a certified expert or a certified specialist in a field. There are very few lawyers, frankly, of over 100,000 in this state that are board certified. I've been board certified since 1983 continuously. In fact, there's no lawyer in Florida that's been board certified any longer than I have. It's a professional accomplishment that is important within the profession itself and it's certainly something that a consumer might want to consider when they're shopping amongst the many lawyers in Florida who do personal injury work.
