The Arditi were Italian shock troops developed to break out of the prolonged stalemate on the front lines against the Austro-Hungarian army in Northern Italy during World War One.

Known as "The Daring Ones," they were among the bravest and most courageous troops of the war due to their fearless charges of enemy trenches with only daggers and grenades as their main weapons.

Trained in 14th Century martial arts and fencing, the Arditi were masters of close quarters and hand-to-hand combat. Utilizing speed and surprise, they were highly effective in seizing enemy positions and causing terror among their opponents. The Arditi were among the main contributors in finally defeating the Austro-Hungarian army in November 1918.
