Cymbal Fest #1 - Ride Cymbals

Описание к видео Cymbal Fest #1 - Ride Cymbals

Welcome to Cymbal Fest #1. These videos will focus on cymbals that are played in random order so that you can get a good idea of what different types and models of cymbals sound like compared to one another.
In this first part I demonstrate 24 different ride cymbals sized from 18" to 22". My wife Jennifer is assisting me here, so I do not have to stop to switch them. These are rides that I use mostly in the jazz genre although some of them make great all-round rides.

To give you the most accurate acoustic representation of these cymbals this video was recorded with 3 microphones
(two overheads and a bass drum microphone).
No EQ, compression or any other processing effects were used in the recording.
For the best comparisons between cymbals while viewing this video use good
quality speakers or headphones.
The microphones I am using are:
2 Neumann U89i condenser overheads set to a Cardioid pattern.
1 Shure Beta 52 on the bass drum.
The preamps are Grace designs.
There is no compression or equalization or any other processing used.
The drums in this video are 1982 Gretsch Centennials.
18" x14" Bass, 10"x 8" tom 14" ×14" floor tom.
The snare is a 1950's 14" x 6.5" WFL Ray McKinley drum.
1950's 15" K Zildjian Hi Hats are used throughout.
The sticks I am using are my Vic Firth Signature stick in maple. They are only available from me, so if you are interested in purchasing them, contact me at [email protected]
