Karan (born 19 August 1967) is an Indian actor. He started his career as child actor under the name Master Raghu for more than 70 films in Malayalam and Tamil. Ina and Kuyiline Thedi were huge hits. Aa a child artist in Murugan Adimai he played son of K.R.Vijaya and R.Muthuraman. In 1990 he made his Tamil debut as an adult in Annamalai starring opposite Rajinikanth in an uncredited role and later in Nammavar starring opposite Kamal Hassan under the screen name Karan. Then he was a part of many Tamil films, especially starring Vijay and Ajith. In the year 2006, Karan became a solo hero with Kokki and continued with films like Karuppusamy Kuththagaithaarar and Kathavarayan. His recent films are Sooran (2014) and Uchathula Shiva (2016). After a sabbatical, he came into the limelight when one of his movie's background music suddenly went viral in 2018 due to the word "Shroovv". The term was first coined in a villainous background music in Coimbatore Mappillai, starring Vijay, in one of the scenes where Vijay's character talks to his grandmother about Karan's character, and the latter's appearance is seen along with the background music "Shroovv".Thus earning the title "the shroov star".[
