Flowering Dogwood shrubs typically bloom on last year's stems (old wood) but really do best with renewal pruning to remove the oldest, least colorful stems so younger and more vibrantly-colored stems can take their place. Don’t forget to snip some of these colorful stems for your indoor and outdoor container decorations. Say a quick hello to the bees and butterflies that visit your spring flowers, and enjoy some bird-watching in the fall when the berries arrive! There will be something new every season in your landscape!
