Description: Unity (developed by Unity Technologies) is probably known as one of the most used and popular game engines in the recent years. It allows developing cross-platform 2D and 3D games and multimedia applications easily, which is one of its main strengths. Since Unity version 5, its Native Audio plugin SDK permits creating game audio plugins (DSP effects, synthesizers, etc) for extending the available range of factory effects that are bundled with the engine. But this is not the only way. This talk will cover some of the different approaches available for creating such plugins, how to get started, and it will also explain some details about the development of Voiceful Characters from Voctro Labs, a native plugin for Unity that allows synthesizing various types of voices using AI technology, with fully configurable parameters like timbre, speaking speed, gender or emotion.
