Charles Woods aka The Professor - What Blaxploitation Could Have Been

Описание к видео Charles Woods aka The Professor - What Blaxploitation Could Have Been

Film historian/archivist CHARLES WOODS takes a look at six films from the Blaxploitation era that defied the stereotypical to inject a level of consciousness. In this mini-lecture, The Professor breaks down scenes from UPTIGHT, TRICK BABY, FIVE ON THE BLACK HAND SIDE, SCREAM BLACULA SCREAM, BROTHERS, and THE SPOOK WHO SAT BY THE DOOR to show how (in rare instance) artists injected subversive political messages designed to empower the community in film that was designed by the establishment to make a quick buck. Blaxploitation may be remembered for the flashy fashions and cartoon like heroes, but here we take a look at films that showed a promise to educate and empower. Camera and edit: Mike D. Archival research: Charles Woods.
