Sawyer Brown is an American country music group formed in 1981 in Apopka, Florida. The band initially consisted of Mark Miller as the lead vocalist and guitarist, Gregg "Hobie" Hubbard on keyboards and vocals, Bobby Randall on lead guitar and vocals, Joe "Curly" Smyth on drums, and Jim Scholten on bass guitar. These musicians had previously played together in country singer Don King's band and decided to continue working together after King's retirement. Following their success on the TV show Star Search, Sawyer Brown signed with Capitol Records in 1984. They recorded with Capitol until 1991, then with Curb Records until 2005, briefly signing with Lyric Street Records in 2003. Duncan Cameron joined the band in 1991, replacing Randall, and Shayne Hill took his place in 2004.
