PROJECT STEPS

You are a project manager for Reliable Delivery, a parcel delivery company in Ottawa, Canada, that provides parcel delivery services to other businesses and individuals throughout Canada. To better manage the drivers and the services they provide, you have decided to create an Access database.
Most of the data you need is stored in other types of files, for example data about new customers is stored in an Excel workbook.
Import the data as follows:
Use the From File option on the New Data Source menu to import the data from the Support_AC365_2B_Customers.xlsx support file and append it to the Customer table. Do not analyze the table after importing the data or save the import steps. Open the Customer table in Datasheet View. It should look like Figure 1. Close the Customer table.

New drivers were recently hired to prepare for a projected increase in business. Their data is stored in a comma-delimited text file. Use the From File option on the New Data Source menu to import the data from the text file Support_AC365_2B_Drivers.txt and append it to the Driver table. Do not analyze the table after importing the data and do not save the import steps.

Drivers take various routes to get to the destinations required to perform deliveries. The route data is stored in a separate Access database. Use the From Database option on the New Data Source menu to import the table Route from the database file Support_AC365_2B_Routes.accdb into the database. Do not save the import steps. Open the Route table in Datasheet View. It should look like Figure 2. Close the Route table.

Open the Driver table in Design View. Set properties for the fields in the Driver table as follows:

Change the Default Value property for the Region field to ON since many drivers work in Ontario. (Hint: When new records are added "ON" will automatically be placed in the Region field. The records that are already in the database still have no Region value set, and will remain that way until edited.)

Set the Caption property for the FirstName field as First Name to display the more common format in column headings.

Set the Caption property for the LastName field as Last Name.

Save the changes and close the table.

Open the Customer table in Design View. Reliable Delivery wants you to identify every customer by name in the Customer table.
Change the Required property for the CustomerName field to Yes. Save the change to the Customer table and then close the table. (Hint: Because you changed the Required property, the "Data Integrity rules have been changed" warning message appears. The data is valid, so click No and continue saving the table.)

Open the Driver table in Datasheet View. Format the Salary field as follows:

Apply the Currency format to the Salary field to clarify that it contains dollar amounts.

Resize the Salary field to its best fit to display all of its data.

Save the changes but do not close the table.

With the Driver table still open in Datasheet View, make the following changes to its structure:

Move the Salary field so that it appears immediately after the StartDate field.

Add a new field following the Region field with the field name DeliveryCode and the Short Text data type to record the delivery type of each driver.

Delete the Mobile field since the company is not planning to use it.

Save the changes. The Driver table should look like Figure 3.

With the Driver table still open in Datasheet View, decrease the number of decimal places for the Salary field to 0. Save the change and close the table.

Open the Route table in Datasheet View and add a new field following the Description field with the field name Days and the Number data type.
Save the changes.

Open the Route table in Design View and make the following changes to the Days field:

Change the default value of the Days field to 2 since most routes take 2 days to complete.

Set the number of decimal places to 2 to allow for routes that include a part day in their travel time.

Save the changes but do not close the table.

With the Route table open in Design View, add a new fie
