Описание к видео Weekly Livestock Market Update 12/8/17

Some highlights from this week's Weekly Livestock Market Update:

•Market Recap - Cash hog prices are $1.30 higher for the week. The current lean hog contract lost about $2.00 for the week. Pork cutout value is $.66 higher for the week with stronger belly and ham prices. Ham prices are seeing some seasonal support. Lean hog futures have been pressured by concerns over record high production. Cash fed cattle are down $3.00 for the week. Cash feeder cattle are $1.00 to $8.00 lower. Live cattle futures current contract down $3.00 for the week and feeder cattle futures are down $5.00 for the week. Choice beef cutout value is flat for the week - but still 9 percent above year ago levels.
•October export data was released this week: Beef, pork, and chicken exports totaled 1.396 billion pounds. The highest total since October 2011 and the second highest October ever. Beef exports at 260 million pounds were 13.1 percent higher than last year. Pork exports at 495 million pounds were 9.5 percent higher than a year ago. Chicken export 642 million pounds were 15.2 recent higher than a year ago. Brown talks about the rise in exports, but does it meet the rise in production?
•Purdue/CME Ag Economy Barometer - The latest Ag Economy Barometer dropped 7 points to 128. It is the second-lowest reading for 2017.
•Jobs report: The economy added another 228,000 jobs this month. That’s good for domestic demand. However, wage increases were much more modest than pre-report expectations.
•Consumer Confidence: The Index of Consumer Sentiment fell 1.7 percent month over month, yet the Current Situation Index was 2.1 percent higher than last month. Expectations were down 4.8 percent as consumers grapple with the impact of expected tax reform.
•Farrow to Finish returns: For November producers lost $1.38 an animal - very similar to the October level. Year-to-date we’re showing a profit of $13.44 per hog. If that trend continues - this may be the second most profitable year since 2006.
