Southside vs Eastern Standard gin-based cocktails | Just Shake or Stir

Today I am shaking two gin cocktails for you so I can show how you get a different cocktail by tweak the recipe and introduce an extra ingredient.

Many cocktails are created by taking inspiration from another recipe, and this is precisely the case with these two delicious Gin-based cocktails.

Eastern Standard is a cocktail introduced by one of the Soho House Groups - House Tonic Cocktails. The recipe is inspired by the vintage cocktail Southside. There's more into the history of Southside, but this is a conversation for another episode.

SOUTHSIDE

- 7 Fresh Mint Leaves
- 60ml Kokoro Dry Gin (you can use any good quality dry gin)
- 25ml Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
- 15ml Monin Pure Cane Sugar Syrup

Shake all ingredients with ice and fine strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with a single mint leave.

EASTERN STANDART (Soho tonic house)

- 3 Fresh Cucumber Slices
- 3 Fresh Mint Leaves
- 50ml Kokoro Dry Gin (you can use any good quality dry gin)
- 12.5ml Fresh Lime Juice
- 10ml Monin Pure Cane Sugar Syrup (or Monin Cucumber Syrup)

Muddle the cucumber and mint in the bottom of your shaker. Add the great of the ingredients, ice and shake. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a cucumber strip and mint sprigs.
