we are about to explore some incredible temples in Pokhara, including Kareshwar Temple, Sri Rama Temple, Kedareshwara Temple, and Hanuman Ji Temple! Stay with me till the end to witness these amazing and sacred places!
Bindhyabasini Temple is dedicated to Goddess Bindhyabasini, an incarnation of goddess Kali. It sits atop a beautiful small hill, accessible by stone staircases from down. this is one of the oldest temples in pokhara. This temple's origin traces back to a dream of King Siddhi Narayan Malla who wished to bring a Vigraha of the goddess from present-day Uttar Pradesh, India. However, during the journey, the Vigraha became immovable at this exact position, so king made the temple at this place.
Next, we are visiting a secret temple dedicated to God Shiva, known as Kareshwar Temple. It is located near a river, and we have to walk down the stairs to reach it.
Near the temple, there is an ancient cave with many old vigrahas (idols) inside. In front of the Shiva temple, there is a beautiful golden Nandi murti, and next to the main temple, there is also a Ganesha Bhagawan temple. Behind these temples, we can see numerous Shiva Lingas, along with a Naga Mandapa nearby.
Now, we are heading to the famous Sri Rama Bhagawan Temple nearby. This two-storied temple, built in traditional Nepalese style with bricks, has a beautiful architectural design. Inside the garbha griha (sanctum sanctorum), we can see the murtis of God Rama, Goddess Sita, and Bhagawan Lakshmana. In front of the temple, there is an amazing golden murti of Hanuman Ji.
Apart from these deities, the temple complex also has shrines dedicated to God Shiva and God Ganesha. The architecture of the temple is truly stunning.
This ancient temple has two Nandi Bhagawan murtis in front of the temple. Inside, there is a small garbha griha, its roof covered with numerous rudrakshas. Inside, we can see an amazing Narmada Shivalinga. This is considered one of the most powerful temples in Nepal.
Around the temple, there are many small shrines. On the right side of the temple, there is a shrine dedicated to Goddess Durga Devi, and behind it is another temple dedicated to God Vishnu, with his vahana, Garuda Bhagawan, in front of it. Near the homa kundam, there is a Surya Bhagawan (Sun God) temple. On the left side of the main temple is a Ganesha temple.
The entire temple complex is surrounded by a peaceful atmosphere. Behind the temple, there is a huge tree, and under it, there are two deities resembling God Shiva and Goddess Parvati. However, locals believe they represent an ancient saint and his disciple.
Near the Ganesha temple, we can see numerous Shiva Lingas and a beautiful lake nearby. Apart from these, there is also a Buddha Bhagawan murti in the complex. Near the temple, there is a Gurukulam (Vedic school) with accommodation for students
