How To Install A Telephone Extension Socket

This video shows you how to install a telephone extension socket, which will enable you to have a second telephone or move your existing telephone or broadband router to a new position.

Tools you will need

1x Cable cutting tool (Stanley blade or utility knife)
1x Knone Tool (IDC punch-down tool)
1x small headed screwdriver

Step by step guide

Master socket

1) Using a small headed screwdriver, remove the test socket part of the master telephone socket.
2) Insert cable extension cable.
3) Remove outer jacket of telephone cable with utility knife. Be careful not penetrate into the inside cable pairs.
4) If you cable has a drawstring. Pull the back to reveal a piece of virgin cable.
5) With the krone tool. Punch down the blue and white cable into terminal 2, the orange and white cable into terminal 3 and the white and blue cable into terminal 5.
6) Screw back test socket and telephone extension cabling.

Extension socket

7) Repeat steps 3, 4, 5 at the telephone extension end.
8) screw back telephone extension socket.
