A lot of children are afraid of Santa Claus, this obese dude created by the marketing department of the Coca-Cola Company. And while old fat men who like children are admittedly scary, the widespread happy fellow is nothing like the Finnish Santa Claus.

In fact, Christmas in the Nordic countries has very little to do with Christ, so little that Christ does not appear even in the name of the festival, which is known as Yule, or joulu, in Finnish. Much of the widespread Christmas traditions derive from this pagan festival.
