TRAINS GALORE on the Moffat Route - 6/26/2024

On this beautiful summer day, @TheCentralTexasRailfan  and I ventured out to UP's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision, with hopes of catching, well, trains haha. The morning started off slow, but picked up quickly after we heard Amtrak 5 and an empty tank train departing Denver over the scanner. We also saw a BNSF manifest coming down Big Ten curve on Virtual Railfan, so we knew we were in business. We caught all three trains simultaneously and began to follow the UP Tank Train up the mountain to Rollinsville, where we encountered another BNSF manifest, making its way down. We would swap directions and follow this second manifest down back to Denver, which met 2 more empty tank trains on the way. Storms began to form as we got back into Denver, so we decided to call it and make our way back home. It wouldn't be too long, though, before we would encounter a surprise manifest train headed up the Front Range Subdivision. Afterwards, we grabbed some dominoes, and I ate an entire medium pizza in like less than 10 minutes. I had no idea how I managed that, but yeah, that was fun!
