This automatic hen door will open and close at dusk or dawn, orrrr any parameters you set with your cell phone. It also has a temperature sensor so you'll know what the interior coop temperature is at any given moment. You can override it manually.

Why didn't I paint the wood?
"Exposed wooden parts are treated with a non-toxic, environmentally friendly wood treatment which never needs to be reapplied." According to the manufacturer.

In the future, I would probably add the accessory control module so I can have interior lighting and venting controlled automatically. I'd like to control the chick brooder in particular with fans and heat lamp on/off based on temperatures.

If there turns out to be a problem with the door that I did not anticipate, I will update my review with an explanation or fix.
