VW 01M Transmission Drain/Refill

Описание к видео VW 01M Transmission Drain/Refill

The VW Audi 01M 4 speed transmission is common to a lot of early Audi A3s, MK3, MK4 Golfs, Beetles, Skoda and Seat equivalents.

There is no factory maintenance schedule and these are supposedly 'filled for life'. You'll probably feel better if you give it a service and get that the old fluid out.

My service plan includes changing the fluid and filter. A couple of days later do a drain and refill to get some more of the dirty fluid out of the torque converter and then changing the diff oil.

There is no dipstick on the transmission so follow this procedure to check the level after you are done:

   • VW 01M Fluid Level Check Without VagCom

Here's how you check and change the diff oil:

   • VW 01M Diff Oil Check - Often Forgotten

The transmission fluid and filter change video will follow next time I do that service.

The VW spec for the fluid is - G052-162-A2
It's expensive. There are a few aftermarket fluids with the same spec. Here I'm using the Penrite Multi-Vehicle ATF which does not meet the spec but is acceptable according to the Penrite website. I use it because it's the only fluid that ever comes on special at Repco. There is a synthetic version that would be better but it's 50% more expensive. I've had a good experience with this fluid so far.
