All the old K&K 760 mm narrow gauge railways on the Balkans were abandoned a long time ago.
All of them? - In one remote corner of Bosnia and Herzegovina a 760 mm coal line soldiers on. About 10 km of track, built after World War II in the early Tito years, link the coal loading stations up the valley with the standard gauge line down at Banovici. Normally operated by diesel engines, the line sports a number of steam engines which are fired up on special occasions. This video shows them at work.
The last sequence is a second 760 mm line in the area, the line from Visegrad in Bosnia-Herzegowina to Mokra Gora, which then moves on over the Sargan Eight to Sargan in Serbia. Although this is a tourist line, rebuilt after many years of non-existence, the stunning landscape makes it more than worth a visit.
