The iconic “Baby, The Stars Shine Bright” Japanese clothing brand debuted their new collection at New York Fashion Week with a take on the Alice in Wonderland theme.

This season marks the 36th year since the company was established. Baby, The Stars Shine Bright presented a brand new collection including archival designs that represent brand's unique Lolita style. Baby, The Stars Shine Bright was one of the early purveyors of Loilta fashion, a style popular in Japan that draws inspiration from the Victorian and Rococo era.
“Nowadays Lolita fashion style has a lot of substyles. There are such substyles as Sweet Lolitas, which has a predominant pink and white color palette, or Gothic Lolitas which is mostly black and white. Our company introduces Classic Lolita fashion which is well-known for its delicately added ruffles and lace.” explain the designers Kumiko Uehara and Masumi Kano. The runway show gave audiences a glimpse on an elegant and doll-like world. This collection was inspired by Usakumya-chan, the brand’s teddy bear mascot. Each dress was incredibly intricately detailed and featured voluptuous skirts. Most dresses were mini dresses and paired with thigh high socks. The callback to Alice in Wonderland, a very common Lolita inspiration, was very clear in many pastel blue dresses. Several dresses also appeared to draw inspiration from the Queen of hearts, featuring red hues and heart embellishments framed in lace. Global Fashion Collective is a platform supporting creative designers from around the world. The collective produces runway showcases in different fashion capitals with the aim to accelerate the designer's global development. デザイナーの上原久美子さんと加納真澄さんは、現在ではロリータファッションのスタイルは細分化されていると語ります。 たとえば、主にピンクと白の色を使用するスイートロリータや、主に黒と白を使用するゴシックロリータなどです。 「Baby, The Stars Shine Bright」は、フリルやレース、装飾などで有名なクラシックロリータファッションを代表するブランドです。
