Making Pure Copper Eggs - Melting Scrap Copper Pipe

Описание к видео Making Pure Copper Eggs - Melting Scrap Copper Pipe

Today I'm Melting Scrap Copper Pipe and Making Pure Copper Eggs

Really pleased with how these copper eggs turned out, although one of the eggs was a bit wonky due to some slippage in the mould.

I'm using scrap copper pipe 99.85% pure copper and a few copper ingots left over from a previous melt.

The furnace I am using is a Devil Forge and is a great furnace for the home foundry.

Petrobond Sand is the medium for this double copper egg casting. Petrobond gives good a good finish and is self venting due to the low gas pressure in the mould. Petrobond generally does not need venting.

The molten copper was poured at around 1300C / 2372F which is my preferred temperature for pouring copper. Copper solidifies very quickly, so molten copper should always be poured hot.

Hope you enjoy this video, please like comment and subscribe and all that jazz...

Molten copper can be extremely dangerous, great care should be taken when handling and pouring copper and other metals. Do not attempt this without proper safety gear.

Cheers All
