In US news and current events today, climate change is threatening homes of people in the Great Lakes region. Rita Alton is a Lake Michigan coast resident in Manistee County struggling with the grim reality that she will need to move as the land by her house continues to erode away.

Alton used to have nearly an acre of land between her house and the shoreline — now her house sits only 8 feet from the edge.
