APADUDDHARA DURGA STOTHRAM

Durga is the main deity of hindus. She is the combined form of all the gods and goddess of the hindu mythological lore or rather, to be more specific, all gods, goddesses, demi gods, men, animals, birds and plants, the 5 primordial elements, the living and non living entities and the whole of the universe is but her manifest form.
She is the mother of the whole creation, giving birth to it, lovingly tending it, teaching it, punishing it and engulfing it into her at the time of delusion and recreating it..... are all her divine duties.... to rid us of our internal enemies kaama, kroodha, loobha, mooha, madaa, mathsara who in the guise of demons or rakshasas like mahishasura and the like, who create suffering.... Mother Durga herself comes down and vanquishes them and thus restores peace and joy.

We as humans in times of pain and suffering call out for our mother, hearing to which she comes running to us, relieves us and restores happiness within us and hence
She is called Durgati Harini ( one hoe puts an end to all problems and pain ) Sadgati Dayini (One who shows us the path to bliss ) Apaduddharini.

Apaduddhara Durga Stothram is one of the many great hymns composed by " Sri Vyasa Maharshi " it is a complete sharanagathi stothra to Mother Durga singing which we offer ourselves at her lotus feet.
This beautiful stothram has been wonderfully Rendered by Shankar Mahadevan.

The snaps showcased in the video are captured on Maha Navami - 9th day of Navarathri, on the same day it is believed Mother Durga completely wiped out the demons and killed the great rakshasa Mahishasura (the buffelo demon) and on this day mother Saradamba gave darsanam as Sri Jaya Durga Devi.
