In this video Swaminarayan was born as Ghanshyam Pandey in 1781 in Chhapia, Uttar Pradesh. In 1792, he began a seven-year pilgrimage across India at the age of 11, adopting the name Nilkantha Varni. During this journey, he carried out welfare activities and after 9 years and 11 months of this journey, he returned to Gujarat around 1799.
Settled in the state. In 1800, he was inducted into the Uddhava sect by his guru Swami Ramananda and was given the name Sahajananda Swami. In 1802, before his death, he was handed over the leadership of the Uddhava sect by his guru. Sahajanand Swami organized a meeting and taught the Swaminarayan Mantra. From this point on, he became known as Swaminarayan. The Uddhav sect is known as the Swaminarayan sect.
