Nagdhunga tunnel is a highway tunnel connecting Sisnekhola of Dhading district and Nagdhunga in Kathmandu. The tunnel will be a part of Tribhuvan Highway. The contractor of the project is Hazama Ando Corporation. The project is scheduled to be finished by April 2023.

The tunnel has a height of 18m and have a lane of 9.5m wide. The length of the tunnel is 2680 m. The cost estimate of the project is about NPR 22 billion.

Around 68 percent construction work of Nagdhunga-Naubise tunnel road has been completed.

According to Nagdhunga Tunnel Construction Project, it has spent 49 percent of the allocated budget. As of now, a main tunnel of length 1650 meter has been constructed.

Out of the 2,688 meter long tunnel, 802 m has been dug in the eastern side and 848 m has been dug in the west. Similarly, of the evacuation tunnel of 2,557 m, the project has completed its work on the stretch of 1867 m.

Likewise, construction of two underpasses, four box culverts and two bridges have been constructed. A total of 95 percent construction of the access road has been completed. The project is looking to acquire land necessary for construction of a flyover.

The project is being developed with a total investment of Rs 22 billion. The Japanese government is providing Rs 16 billion in loan assistance while the government is investing the remaining Rs 6 billion.
