Some low-income households to get extra $15,000 in housing grants, option to buy 3-room flats

A grant that lets those living in rental flats in Singapore buy their own homes will be increased from $35,000 to $50,000. It will help low-income families with young children that have previously enjoyed one housing subsidy. They can also choose bigger flats. The Housing and Development Board is offering three-room units on top of the current two-room option. The 20-year minimum occupation period remains, and families must undergo a yearly assessment by authorities and receive support from a social service agency.
